The scholarship requirements include: a cover letter and resume from any Key Club senior who wishes to apply for our scholarship money.

 

o   The cover letter should read like you are applying to college or for a job.

 

o   The cover letter should also include reference to “need” but we don’t want you to spell out your family financials.  A comment is fine, no bank statements.

 

o   The resume should be limited to your 4 years of High School and include:       

 

§  Begin with a summary of “YOU”, a paragraph introducing you to the committee

§  Course of study and GPA, AP classes, favorites and not so favorite     

§  School activities, clubs, other organizations

§  Volunteer activities, preferences

§  Outside school

·        Church or club volunteer activities

·        Employment, W-2 or unpaid intern type

§  Colleges you have applied to

§  Colleges you have been accepted to

§  College you have chosen

§  Career choice or aspiration

Try to follow this order, or at least include these points

 

o   The cover letter should be a page and the resume should be one or two pages.  After that we start to glaze over.

 

We need these by Tuesday, May 5th.  That will give you two weekends to work on it.  Don’t try to do this on Monday night of the 4th.
